In the main event, Ryan Villopoto took the lead early with Chad Reed following close behind, positions they remained in for the first half of the race, battling for the lead. Reed was pushing RV2 hard, and it looked like a battle to the finish was coming, until the TwoTwo rider went down heavily in the sand section. He came up short on a triple and went over the ‘bars. Reed was able to make it off the track with some help from the medics, but didn’t get back to the race. Meanwhile RV2 cruised away with the win, with Jake Weimer looking to take second, before Dungey made the move that allowed him to take second, which keeps him within 13 points of the reigning champ.
