Suzuki Desert Storm News

Hi everyone and welcome to the new year.
Suzuki Desert Storm is just under 2 weeks away now.

We have 600 entries so far which is great.  We should end up with about 800 each day for the event, and I am guessing most people will choose to camp again so there will be a good crowd at the event base doing what crowds do best - eating, drinking and being merry.

Just a reminder that clothing orders close Friday 8 January and meal orders close Monday 11 January so you better get cracking if you want some of the goods.

Entries close Wednesday 13 January. (Next week)  If you want to enter after this date, please call Jodie Davis at 021187-3074.  There may still be places available.

So far we have 2 high profile riders entered for the Suzuki Desert Storm Triple Crown games - Chris and Karl Power.  They are normally team mates on the track, but for this event - they will be gunning for each other and the prizes.  As well as the great gear from CamelBak, Skins, DRD and EZ Up, we have added $500 prizemoney to the Triple Crown - High Jump, Enduro X and Barrel Race.

We have added an Extreme Trail to the event.  It is by far the toughest trail we have ever had at an epic events ride.  It will be tough in the dry and almost impossible if wet.  The trail is only 4km long and is an option off the West trail.  The trail involves a river crossing, rocky hill climb, rutty downhill, another hill climb and a roots and rocks section.  It is a trail for mountain goats so we think it will provide serious challenges for top riders.

But remember most of the DS trails are pretty easy with novice options to any potentially hard sections.

There has been quite a bit of rain in Karioi forest over Christmas which will make the tracks even better.
